Fast-growing tech companies face a typical challenge: The data protection documentation, which was created in the early phase, often does not keep pace with growth.
At n8n, the privacy policy was technical and not very user-friendly, a structured record of processing was largely missing, consent management was not up to date, and customer contracts required a data protection review.
Solution
Paxa supported n8n in the structured revision of the entire data protection architecture with a focus on four key areas:
1. Privacy statement
The existing, technically oriented privacy policy was redesigned from scratch: clearly structured, formulated in a user-friendly manner and fully compliant with GDPR. Objective: maximum transparency for users and customers without losing legal substance.
2. Record of Processing Activities (RoPA)
Together with the n8n team, all relevant data processing activities were systematically recorded and documented. The result: a complete list of processing activities, which serves as a reliable basis for future audits and government inquiries.
3. Consent Management
The existing consent management was reviewed and brought up to date with the latest technology and case law, with clear consent processes, legally secure cookie settings and comprehensible opt-in/opt-out mechanisms.
4. Customer contracts & data protection
The customer contracts have been reviewed, revised and standardized so that n8n is legally secure with customers at all times, even in an international context.
Results
Through structured cooperation with Paxa, n8n has created a robust GDPR basis:
- A clear, user-friendly privacy policy that creates transparency and strengthens trust.
- A complete record of processing activities (RoPA) that ensures audit readiness.
- Legally compliant consent management based on current case law.
- GDPR-compliant customer contracts with standardized order processing contracts for international use.
The result: n8n can continue to grow, with the certainty of being solidly positioned under data protection law.
